The iPhone 4S device name is how iTunes identifies your device when you connect to it. |
Your iPhone 4S device name is the name that appears under Devices when you connect your iPhone to iTunes. It is the identifier for your iPhone 4S - the name that iTunes reads and recognizes each time you perform a sync, and connect to it. To change your iPhone 4S device name, just go to Settings > General > About > Name, and specify the name you wan for your phone. After that, sync to iTunes and you're done. This works pretty much the same for all your other Apple mobile devices.
When you connect your iPhone 4S to iTunes, the device name appears in Devices and Summary panel. |
When would you want to change your iPhone 4S device name? Sometimes, when you mistakenly sync your iPhone to a wrong Apple ID or iTunes account, your contents, and device name will be wiped out and replaced. You might be able to manually drag back your apps, contacts, and what not, but the wrong device name will still remain. Also, during iPhone activation, a default name is assigned to your device when it is connected to iTunes - usually it's the name of your computer. To change it anytime after activation, just go to Settings, type in the name you want, and sync to iTunes. Pretty easy iPhone 4S trick.
