iPhone 6: Features, Prices, Release Date, and Design

Apple releases iPhone 4S

In October 2011, Apple released the newest version of the iPhone, the iPhone 4S. While most consumers were expecting the iPhone 5 to be released, Apple stood with the pattern of offering an "S" version. The iPhone4S has a few new features worth mentioning:
  • An A5 processor like the one used in the iPad2.
  • HD quality video (this is a huge plus for me!)
  • Higher quality 8 megapixel camera
  • New operating system with more features
  • Faster download speed
  • Improved reception with multiple carriers including Sprint
  • Available in black or white color
  • Price: 16GB for $199; 32 GB for $299 and the 64GB for $399

iPhone 6 Features

With Steve Jobs' passing, one must wonder how the next generations of the iPhone will look. I absolutely love my iPhone 4 and will probably be ready for a new phone when the iPhone 5 or 5S is released. My favorite features of the iPhone 4:
  • Face Time: Face time is face to face chatting with your phone. Anyone who has had the iPhone 4 or 5 knows how great face time is. Anyone with another iPhone can communicate with you via face chat.
  • Multitasking: I was recently shown this feature. Simply by double clicking the home button you will be shown all of your opened apps. Click on the app you'd like to open and it opens the app from the last place you were when you were working on that app. One thing I recently learned is that your phone uses its memory to keep these apps open. It's a good idea to close the apps that you aren't using. To close the apps, hold down one app until they all start to wiggle. Then click the X button and the app will close. This should speed up your phone, especially if you have a lot of apps open.
  • Video and photos: The iPhone is only getting better with its video and photo quality. I presume the iPhone7 will have even better resolution with HD quality video. If you haven't downloaded iMovie for your iPhone. I highly recommend it. You can edit video right from your phone, add pictures, movies and other edits very easily.
  • Find your phone using Mobile Me. Apple gives you step by step instructions on how to set up your iPhone so that if it's lost or stolen, you can easily find it!
  • Folders for Apps: Organizing your iphone is so much easier now with Apps. I have created a folder or two for each of our girls with their apps, a health folder, a finance folder, a games folder, etc.
  • I can only imagine the next generations of the iPhone will be even better. I'm excited to see all of the new useful things Apple has in store for the iPhone 6 and 7.

When will the iPhone 6 be released?

The iPhone 4S was released on October 4th, 2011. The iPhone 4 was released on June 24, 2010 around 16 months before the iPhone 4S. If we use this as an example, the iPhone 5 will be released in the winter of 2012 and the iPhone 5S will be released in the early part of 2013. With that logic, the iPhone 6 will be released in the Spring of 2013. As we get closer to the date, we'll keep you updated on any chatter that is occurring.

How much will the iPhone 6 cost?

Apple has stayed fairly consistent with their pricing over the years, with a little fluctuation making the phones cheaper. I don't think the price will change very much especially since they consistently add more GB to the phones and better features. I would expect the $199, $299, and $399 numbers to be fairly static for the iPhone 6.

iPhone as your Phone

iPhone is a mobile phone that uses touchscreen technology. You can make a call by pointing your finger at a name or number in your address book, your favorites list, or a call log. You can easily sync all of your address book from your Mac or PC. It is simple to merge calls and you can listen to voicemail in the order you choose, like an email application.

iPhone as your iPod

The iPhone can be used as your iPod. It will sync music, videos, TV shows, or audio books directly from your Mac or PC. It works as a wide screen iPod that uses screen touch controls. Album art is displayed and you can even search your library by this art.

iPhone as your Internet Device

iPhone uses Safari as its Internet browser and a rich HTML client for its email. Apple has partnered with Yahoo! and Google for their search engines capabilities. The device is able to multi-task: downloading email while searching the Internet. And of course, an Apple device wouldn't be complete without its widgets: stock reports, weather reports, maps, etc.
A couple more cool features:
  • If you're reading a horizontal article on the web, you can turn the iPhone horizontally and it will readjust the picture; if you're reading a vertical article, you just hold the iPhone in a vertical manner.
  • When you need to type, a QWERTY screen appears and you touch the letters needed. It is predictive, so it prevents and corrects mistakes as you type. There isn't a QWERTY screen unless you need one.

How to Fixing an iPhone Stuck at Apple Logo?

How to Fixing an iPhone Stuck at Apple Logo

After jailbreaking, updating the OS, or restoring from backup an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, a problem can sometimes occur in which the iPhone won't boot properly. In this situation, the iPhone can get stuck at the Apple logo, or sometimes in an endless loop of rebooting--both of which render the device unusable.

In most cases, you can solve these problems by putting the phone into recovery mode and restoring it from backup. To do that, follow these instructions:
  1. Connect the iPhone's USB cable to your computer, but not your iPhone.
  2. Turn your iPhone off. If the phone won't turn off in the traditional manner, just keep holding the buttons until the screen goes dark.
  3. Once you've turned the device off, press the home button on the face of the device and plug in the USB cable to the device's dock connector.
  4. When it turns on, keep pressing the home button until the iTunes logo appears on the screen.
  5. You'll know the phone is now in recovery mode because a window in iTunes will tell you.
  6. You can then start the restore process by clicking the "Restore" button in the iTunes window.

Apple offering up to $345 in store credit for your used iPhone 4S

Apple offers up to $345 in store credit for your used iPhone 4S

If you're itching to get your hands on the new iPhone rumored to be coming next month but don't fancy shelling out a ton of money, Apple is willing to help you offset the cost through their Reuse and Recycling program. As of right now you can fetch up to $345 for a mint condition 64GB iPhone 4S.
Apple's program allows you to enter the model and condition of your iPhone in only a few short questions before giving you a final value. As of now, a 64GB iPhone 4S will get you the most cash but the other models are reasonably priced as well. A 32GB mint condition 4S will get you $330. The program doesn't seem to care what carrier or whether or not the phone is factory unlocked which is probably good news for most. While the values are higher for the iPhone 4S, Apple will also accept trade-ins on any Mac, iPhone, or iPad model. If you've got an iPhone 4, you'll take a bit of a hit as the highest value for a mint condition model is currently $185.
If you're okay with the value Apple gives you, you'll just have to wipe the phone and send in your iPhone complete with the power cord. After you've sent in your iPhone Apple will issue you an Apple Store gift card that you can put towards anything you'd like. For most of you, that'll probably be the new iPhone which iMore has heard should be announced and released this September.
If you're looking for an easy and reliable way to off your iPhone, this is probably the best route but it's worth noting that you can probably fetch much higher values on services such like Craigslist, eBay, or Gazelle.com. We've written guides in the past on how to sell your old iPhone for a good price that can help if you need to get top dollar for it before considering a new iPhone.
If you're okay with Apple's pricing, check out the link below to get your gear appraised. Come this Fall, what color and capacity iPhone will you be opting for?
